AOC threatens Miami with destruction.

“Adopt my Green New Deal . . . or else.”

Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez predicts that Miami will not exist ‘in a few years’ if the Green New Deal is not passed.  The New York representative, 29, made her chilling warning about the effects of climate change at the NAACP forum on Wednesday.

‘What is not realistic is not responding with a solution on the scale of the crisis — because what’s not realistic is Miami not existing in a few years,’ she said.  Ocasio-Cortez reiterated that we need to be ‘realistic’ about the problem and make changes immediately.

She revealed the Green New Deal proposal in February, which focused on changing the economy, renewable energy alternatives and resource efficiency.  Her then-chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti, 33, revealed the plan was not “originally a climate thing at all.”  Chakrabarti added: “We really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.”

Ocasio-Cortez shared a similarly concerning prediction earlier this year that “the world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.”

When she was a senior in high school, the International Astronomical Union named the asteroid 23238 Ocasio-Cortez after in recognition of her second-place finish in the 2007 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.  Her high school instructor noted that, “She’s been a pain in the asteroid ever since.”

She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Business from Boston University in 2011, which uniquely qualifies her as an expert on the environment.  But in the words of her chief of staff, “We really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.”

Her education also undoubtedly helped her form her understanding of tax policy which includes confiscatory taxation.  Or in her words, “Once you get to the tippy tops, on your 10 millionth dollar, sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60 or 70 percent.”  I always get lost when economists use technical terms like “tippy tops“.

But rest assured she doesn’t want the Venezuela brand of socialism; oh, no!  She wants to move the U.S. to more of a Swedish model.  And who among us wouldn’t like a Swedish model?

Havana

One interviewer followed up on OAC’s ‘Miami will die’ prognostication, asking the politician what she would do if she could.  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes responded, “I’m thinking more like downtown Havana.”
