Met with the sound of a million rounds being chambered.
2020 presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke broadly endorsed taking certain guns away from Americans, specifically naming AR-15s and AK-47s as weapons that shouldn’t be allowed.
Beto was asked if he supported confiscating guns, which he said he did, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47!” O’Rourke said. “We’re not going to allow it to be used against a fellow American anymore.”
After the debate, O’Rourke shared a personal story from his childhood. “Before I was the Psychedelic Warlord, I was the middle child in my family. I never got enough attention. I figured out that if positive attention from my parents was a ’10’, then negative attention was a ‘9.5’; the important thing is that I got attention. So I made this statement because I’ve simply got to get to center stage.”
In addition to specifically identifying two weapons, he additionally cited “the high-impact, high-velocity round” of the AR-15, which is a .223 caliber. That’s the exact same round that is most popular with hunters and sports shooters. When asked a follow up question about also confiscating all the ammunition, O’Rourke was undeterred, “What part of ‘hell yes‘ did you not understand?”
The democrat crowd erupted with thunderous applause, giving the trailing O’Rourke some of the attention he so desperately craves.
