Because of their “stupidity,” “pagan and atheist” ways, and “laws that go against God,” Italy and all of Europe will be Muslim in about 10 years, said Monsignor Carlo Liberati, the Catholic archbishop emeritus of Pompeii.
In a Q & A on Jan. 9 with the Italian Catholic journal La Fede Quotidiana, and translated in the Daily Mail and Express, the archbishop was asked if he was worried about terrorist attacks in Italy. He said, yes, but the real problem “is something else.”
“Italy and Europe live in a pagan and atheist way,” he said, and “they make laws that go against God and follows practices that are proper to paganism.”
“All of this moral and religious decadence favors Islam,” said the archbishop. “In 10 years we will all be Muslims because of our stupidity.”
No worries. Together with us, they worship the same God. So it’s all good.
You know, I’ve written fairly extensively on the topic of Islam, especially in light of Paragraph 841 of the Catechism. If anyone’s interested in reading some of that you can go here, here, and here. I’d say I’ve gone out on a limb just a bit. In part I have done this because a) I like going out on a limb. It’s where all the nuts are; and, b) I want to believe and practice the truth. It’s one of the reasons I became a Catholic.
But though I’ve taken on people way smarter than I am – which is just about everyone and said some things in opposition to the Catechism, no one has really taken the time to tell me what I am missing. Perhaps raising the point that Islam is not a religion but a political system is a convenient distraction from the main point.
Assuming for purposes of discussion that I am wrong and Islam is a religion, and “together with us they worship God” is true, then how in the name of heaven do you deal with these swine who are not just blood thirsty but blood intoxicated? We don’t talk about bombing the Methodists because (as generally warped as their worldview is) they aren’t a threat. We want to evangelize both, but I don’t see a Methodist takeover of Europe on the horizon.
So go ahead, embrace Paragraph 841. Join with Francis Beckwith. Hail Islam as worshiping the same God as a practicing Catholic.
But in the immortal words of Ricky Ricardo: “You got some serious ‘splaining to do.”
I can’t wait to hear it.
